iTunes is a device management software for Apple iOS devices as well as a media player, library and more.
Apple intends iTunes to be the all-in-one solution for the Apple ecosystem. You can manage your iOS devices, such as iPhone, iPads and iPods, but even if you don’t own an Apple phone or tablet, you can play music and videos, manage your media library, listen to radio stations and much more. Note that this version is specifically designed to run on 64-bit versions of the Windows operating system.
iTunes is more open than it has ever been, and in addition to managing the media you’ve purchased and downloaded directly from the iTunes store, you can import your media from practically any other source. The suite supports music, video, images, podcasts and a wide variety of other content. In addition, anything purchased or installed on the cloud is automatically available to any device that can access iTunes via your Apple user account.
As mentioned, iTunes is also a tool for managing your iOS devices. You can backup and restore your phone or download apps from the Apple Store from your PC to your device. Users can also manipulate their device settings, and you even have full control over what syncs between a particular device and iTunes. For instance, you might not want everything from your iPhone on your iPod.
Some users complain that iTunes does too much and has become bloated. Many others are pleased to have all the features they’d ever need under a single umbrella. Even if you fall into the former group, the UI is sleek enough and the customization options broad enough that you should have little trouble tailoring the iTunes experience to your liking.
